					DONKEYDOCTOR 1.0.0.3d README.TXT

WARNING!!! This is a testing version of DONKEYDOCTOR and is not fully finished. The functioning in some areas
is not as good as it should be, so use it wisely and always make backups of the important files you are not
willing to lose. I'm talking about the *.PART and the *.MET. You should proceed very carefully in this matter.

HOW TO USE IT: First time you use the program a window will popup where you'll have to enter the path of yours
edonkey2000-directories. When this is done, the main window appears consisting of 6 buttons. These are the
	functions of every button:

Attention!!! You should shutdown Edonkey before running DonkeyDoctor.

HASH FILE - It generates a valid .part.met file of a "complete downloaded" file. It doesn't work with an incomplete
file. Supose you have a friend that have lost its 3.part.met file and was unable to recover it using traditional
techniques (ed2k_recovermet or the DonkeyDoctor itself). Lets supose also that we have the same file fully
downloaded. The only thing we need is him to tell us which .part.met has he lost (in this case 3.part.met). Once
done, we will send it to him and he will have to put it inside edonkey's temp directory and use the DonkeyDoctor's
TEST MET option on it in order to update the chunks he already has.

For those of you using version 1.0.0.3a and above, it is also posible to generate .hash files. These files are a
lot bigger than the usual .part.met and they are used to recover larger pieces of information that will be lost
otherwise. You generate them and use them in much the same way as mentioned for the .part.met files some moments
ago except that you don't have to asign them a number (just rename it to the file's name with the .hash extension).
They must also be inside the edonkey's temp directory for Donkeydoctor to use them properly.
The HASH files are useful when using the RECOVER MET option the recovered amount of data is much smaller than the
one we have downloaded previously. With HASH files these loses are kept to the minimum.

TEST .MET - This option test if a part.met file is corrupt. It checks if the size of the part file is greater than
the part.met file indicated. In addition it checks every downloaded chunk. If the program find some of these are
corrupted, it will ask before it repairs them. If a failure appears while loading the part.met file you have to
	use the next button.

RECOVER .MET - This function works in similar way like ed2k_recovermet. It should work in most of the cases a
.part.met file has disappeared. If it doesn't work, look at the HASH FILE function.

This function is used also to fix corrupt downloads in edonkey. If donkeydoctor can't repair them it generates a
.part.met file thus you can redownload corrupt chunks.

IMPORT/EXPORT - Clicking onto this button will make a popup with these options appear:

	- IMPORT - It allows us to import parts of a file we recieved by other means than eDonkey and that are in DKDR
	format (files generated by DonkeyDoctor).
The files with the DKDR extension must been placed inside the incoming directory. You can generate them using the
	other two options available.

	- EXPORT CHUNKS - Clicking onto this button, somene who has a complete file (inside the incoming directory) can
export one or more chunks and generate DKDR files that could be then imported by people downloading the same file
and who don't have those chunks yet.
This option can help spreading new files over the net faster than before. Supose there is a group of 4 friends, one
of them rips movies and then sends them to the other 3 by ftp, so all 4 of them can share the complete file using
the donkey. Untill now, it was necesary that everyone of the other 3 friends had recieved a complete file by ftp
so they would be able to share it. With DonkeyDoctor and using this option that is not necesary anymore. The one
that rips the movie can divide it into 3 equal parts and send each part to a friend, so they can start sharing the
file without having it complete. This way you can have the same file shared at the donkey in much less time than
before, and its spreading will be almost the same like if everyone of them would have it complete (IF everyone is
uploading at 10Kb/s they are uploading it at 40Kb/s [almost] the same as before and in much less time).

	- COMPLETE MISSING CHUNKS - Supose you are downloading a file and there are only a couple of megabytes left, but
a friend of yours have the complete file. Are there any chances that he could send you the missing data by ftp or
any other method? From now on it is posible using this option. You just need to send him your .part.met and say
to your friend to use this option. He should put the .part.met inside his incoming directory and input the size
in megabytes of the amount of data he should send you (in case he doesn't want to (can) send them all at once).
DonkeyDoctor will create (a) .DKDR file(s) and he will then send it to you using whatever means you use, after
that you just have to import it using the IMPORT option.

CONFIG - It's used to set the paths used by Edonkey2000 (main edonkey folder, incoming folder and temp folder)

EXIT - Hmmm, I wonder what is this for?
